We are pleased to announce this year’s Dissertation Fellowship Competition. Students who will be Level III by February 2, 2009 and who expect to finish their dissertations next year are eligible to apply. There is one application for all awards, although some awards require extra information from applicants.

Matt Huenerfauth, assistant professor of Computer Science at Queens College, has won a prestigious Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award from the National Science Foundation. The five-year, $581,496 award will support his research in the project entitled "Learning to Generate American Sign Language Animation through Motion-Capture and Participation of Native ASL Signers".
